Miniature Bulldog

History

Please note that the Miniature Bulldog is a fairly new breed of dog that is known as a "designer breed". The Miniature Bulldog breed is the result of crossing the English Bulldog, Olde English Bulldog and Pug bloodlines.

Appearance

In general the Miniature Bulldog is a compact, medium sized breed weighing 25-40 pounds in weight and measuring 10-14 inches in height for both males and females. This breed is built short to the ground, muscular and bulky in appearance. Their square shaped head is accompanied by two small rose shaped ears that are folded back and close to their face. Their two round eyes are near a few wrinkles and available in a light hazel to black in color and sometimes blue. Their single layer, short hair coat is tight to skin and available in all colors and color combinations. Their tail is generally cropped and held tight against their body.

Temperament

Due to the Miniature Bulldog being a designer breed, generally each dog is their own individual with possible personality traits from either side of their bloodlines. In general, we can tell you that the Miniature Bulldog should be friendly, confident, family oriented and accepting of other dogs, pets and children. This breed can be stubborn at times. We recommend early obedience and socialization classes to ensure a proper training foundation for both you and your new dog. As always, we recommend positive reinforcement training methods.

Grooming

This breed does shed. Daily brushing and bathing when needed.

Special Notes

Please note that a properly fenced in yard or proper harness and leash is required for this breed while outdoors at all time to ensure safety. Due to this breed being a designer breed, general health and possible health issues that are possible are any of those associated with the English Bulldog, Olde English Bulldog and Pug bloodlines. This breed cannot tolerate hot or cold temperatures. In most cases, breathing, weight and hear issues are possible. Skin allergies are also possible. Please fully educate yourself about the Miniature Bulldog prior to adding one to your family to ensure you are able to provide a life long commitment both physically and financially for the life of your new family member. All dogs originate from wolves (Canis Lupus). Each breed of dog was originally created by mixing different breeds together in an effort to bring forth certain characteristics. Once a breeder has created acceptable “breed characteristics” within their bloodline and these “breed characteristics” have shown to be reliably reproduced in the offspring for three (3) generations, the bloodline may be upgraded from the category of “foundation stock” to “pure-bred”. The same “pure-bred” breed standards vary from different continents, countries, territories, regions, breed clubs, and canine pure-breed registries depending on the goals of their breeders. Dog DNA testing companies can have accurate results for a specific bloodline of a small colony of dogs. However, there are tens of thousands of different bloodlines in the world which have not yet been tested for marker baseline results by Dog DNA testing companies as of 2017. For this reason Dog DNA testing companies do not guarantee the 100% accuracy of their breed lineage results and will also show different marker results for the same pure-bred breed in different continents, countries, territories, regions, breed clubs, and canine pure-breed registries depending on the goals of their breeders.
